Points of Health Acupuncture and Natural Medicine

Points of Health

I cannot say enough about Points of Health Acupuncture and Natural Health Care in Santa Barbara.  From my first appointment with them over a year ago, I knew I'd struck gold in finding the right integrative healing center in Santa Barbara.

I just moved to Santa Barbara and had a urinary tract infection.  I wanted to go to a naturopath or complementary clinic, not to the urgent care for what I knew would certainly just be a round of antibiotics.  So despite the fact that I didn't have an established holistic clinic, I started calling around - no one called me back.  When the pain got significantly worse, I just drove down to Points of Health to see if they could take me as a walk-in, figuring my last resort would be to just go to an urgent care, because I'd already be in town.

In what can only be described as Divine Timing, I walked into Points of Health, met Stacy Smith, and yes, she specialized in women's issues, and could take me for acupuncture.  Right then.  She did say that she wouldn't mess around if the acupuncture didn't relieve my symptoms quickly, that she recommended XYZ Urgent Care, and to get a blood test to make sure that I didn't need antibiotics if I got worse.  I appreciate that - the acknowledgement of the value of Western medicine when necessary.  So the acupuncture did fix me right up, and I had profound relief.  But the next day, I was worse again, so, following Stacy's advice, got to the Urgent Care she recommended,  did need the antibiotics.  But she had made quite an impression, and I followed up with some acupuncture with her after my body started to heal, and to clear out the antibiotics.

Then I was diagnosed with brain cancer.  The first place I went after I got out of the hospital?  Points of Health.  Again, as a drop-in.  (I'm so RUDE!)  Stacy sat down with me for over 40 minutes, listened to me ramble about my diagnosis and ask her questions.  And you know what she said?  "We don't specialize in cancer or the brain here, but we've heard amazing things, and know people who have worked with and been completely healed by Dr. Zhu's Neuro-Acupuncture in San Jose.  It's a drive, but you need to talk to them."

Again, AMAZEMENT.  That I was taking her time, and she was sending my business elsewhere.  Because it was the right thing to do.  It was the right thing for me.

How many times have I been to a practitioner who has said, "Well, I've never done that before, but your first visit will be $200, and we'll come up with a treatment plan."  Many times.  All over the country.

And NOW, Points of Health, co-founders Erik and Stacy Smith, and all the practitioners, have astounded me even further.  Because two of their practitioners have offered to work on me through my treatment, as their gift.

So if you need acupuncture in Santa Barbara, or are curious to try it for the first time, start with Points of Health.
